Field Ops

North Georgia Drones

North Georgia Drones is an FAA approved, insured, veteran-owned LLC Company located in Cumming, GA.

Commercial unmanned aircraft operation in the national airspace requires a certified and registered aircraft, a licensed pilot and operational approval.  Operations are dictated by the FAA Modernization and Reform Act of 2012 (FMRA).  Section 333 of this act deals with SPECIAL RULES FOR CERTAIN UNMANNED AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS.  The FAA has set up a process called a “Section 333 exemption”.  Anyone who wants to fly a UAV for compensation must use this process to request an exemption to specific existing FAA rules that are impossible or difficult to meet. For example, FAA rules require that an aircraft carry a copy of its Operations Manual in the aircraft.  Theses manuals can weigh more than the UAS and there is no one onboard to use them.

On November 24, 2015, North Georgia Drones received Exemption Number 13744, granting approval to begin commercial UAS operations in United States national airspace.
